Viking-Era Hijack Romance

Dragon Racing had ended for the day and the village had now crowded into the Great Hall for a long, noisy night of feasting, drinking and the occasional free-for-all brawl among drunk and hungry vikings. The skies were clear, the torches were lit and the streets were empty.

Well, almost empty. There were three exceptions to this. The first were any stray dragons that crawled through the alleyways or flew over the rooftops. The second were the night-watch; vikings patrolling he streets and keeping watch at the watchtower for obvious security reasons.

The third are two boys in their early twenties. One was dragging the other along as they tried to keep themselves from being noticed. It wasn't that they were in trouble or where planning on starting trouble, but what they were about to do could potentially be scrutinized under certain interpretations of Viking Law.

Hiccup Horrendous Haddock III was an odd man. When he was fifteen, he had almost single-handedly ended the war between Berk and Dragonkind and all it really took was losing a leg. Being the rider of the only Night Fury on Berk, he had successfully won that year's Dragon races (yet again) and the feast was held in his honor. Admittedly, all he wanted to do was spend a quiet night with the one person he loved.

His companion was Jackson Overland. He, his mother and sister has all barely survived the shipwreck that took his father, the three of them found floating on driftwood by Berk fishers and brought back. Their family were fleeing a war that was going on in their village in Norway and had nowhere else to go. So, in his mercy, Stoick helped build them a little cottage on the edge of town and they were made honorary Hooligans.

While the other kids saw Jack as a foreigner, Hiccup (who had no real reason to be choosey) appreciated his companionship, even when Jack tended to get him into trouble. As they grew into teenagers, Hiccup started seeing Jack in a different way. While he did have the occasional one-sided staring contest with Astrid as she walked down the street, he ended up doing it with Jack too.

While Astrid wouldn't want him in a million years, Jack was his best friend. His only friend. And another boy too. Boys weren't supposed to think about other boys like that, right?

It wasn't until Jack caught onto Hiccup's big secret did everything change. When Hiccup was training with Toothless in secret, Jack could see right through his lame excuses and somehow convinced him into showing him what he was hiding. While spooked at first, Jack trusted Hiccup enough to give the Night Fury a chance and before he knew it, Jack had his arms around a blushing Hiccup as they flew through the air.

When they landed, Jack gave him a hug as a thank you for trusting him. In response, Hiccup had kissed him. On the lips. Then he screamed inside his own head about how stupid he was before that voice was silenced by Jack giving him a kiss right back.

Ever since that day, Hiccup and Jack had being seeing each other in secret. While keeping their hands off of each other was difficult, they have managed to ensure that only their dragons knew about what they were up to. Hiccup was certain that Jack's little sister suspected something, but she always saw him as a "big brother" with the sheer amount of times he had been at their house.
