VR Day 11 - A problem

It’s a big problem.

Tiff is texting you. You text her back and try to be present and attentive, but it’s hard to think about soccer at the moment. Soccer should be your priority. Winning is super important, but… you messed up.

You’ve had so many crushes in your life, but never one like this. It’s so important that you be a good athlete and a good captain, but it’s impossible to do that when you’re thinking about this new situation. You have a girlfriend who can’t be seen with you. You don’t care if her family would never like you, but of course, Viti cares. And you also know that at the end of the day, Viti would choose her family over some dumb American broad that she’s only known for a week.

It's painful to think about.

You find her in the main room with everyone else. On this rainy day, they’re being lazy, eating chocolate, drinking coffee that Bee brought from Starbucks, and watching a movie. It’s a steamy thriller and a man and a woman are passionately making out on the screen.

“I’m going to do a little shopping,” you whisper to her. She looks up at you nervously.

“OK,” she says. “Is it OK if I stay here?”

“Of course,” you tell her.

You have only ever been good at two things: kicking a ball and jerking off. Neither of those things will help you now. You wish that you were a little smarter, but you have never gotten better than a B in anything in your life except PE. Maybe that’s why when you think as hard as you can about this problem, you only have one idea.

And… it’s not a great idea. Or is it? Is it genius? Are you a super genius? You might be.

It’s also cool to have a lot of money. You weren’t poor before FUTA, and you aren’t rich now, but you’re still getting paid to kick a ball.

Well, to kick a ball… and be on camera, and wear skimpy outfits, and have privacy, and not be able to go out with your girlfriend… but still. At least you can afford the stuff that you want.

At the mall, your sister Kayla texts you. You recently learned that she’s gotten a job with FUTA. More shockingly, she apparently has a girlfriend. That’s not a surprise because she’s not attractive, because she is. She’s prettier than you, curvier than you, and better at everything than you. But you always knew her to be popular with guys, and not interested in girls.

But she’s dating a girl now. You haven’t met her.

She wants to go on a double date. You wish that you could! That would be so amazing.

Grrr. Sometimes people with old-fashioned values get on your nerves. You have never met Viti’s dad, but you already kind of dislike him.

Anyway, you hold off on answering Kayla. Maybe there’s still a way.

It’s going to hurt, though.
