VD - Political Part 1
Morrigan seems confident about winning even with this scandal. You sense that there was an opportunity for you to have a quieter life, but you don’t like letting people down.
“No one in history has ever done what my running mate has done,” Morrigan announces proudly. You’re at a rally downtown; the streets are packed with Morrigan’s supporters. Morrigan wears only the stringiest of purple thong bikinis, and her breasts bounce and jiggle madly with her spirited gesturing. “We’ve been here a long time, and nothing’s really changed. A human on the ticket can mean actual change. Our society is supposed to be evolved beyond the mortals, but we’re still governed by ego and status! Riley isn’t just unbelievably sexy and with an unprecedented amount of human energy! She has a desire to see Demons live better lives! That’s why Riley isn’t stepping down, and that’s why we’re changing our campaign slogan. Better lives. For everyone.”
After the rally, which is a smashing success, you catch up with Morrigan before she can climb into her car to be driven back to her place.
“Good job tonight,” she tells you.
“I didn’t do anything.”
“You were looking at my ass,” Morrigan says, poking the tip of your nose with her pointy tail. “That aura when you have a half-chub that you’re suppressing is the best. It’s gourmet. They love it. Trust me. You did your part.”
“Um, thanks,” you say.
“Don’t mention it. You’re doing a great job, but I have some calls to make. Give Demi a kiss for me.”
“Um, OK. Did you mean it?”
“Huh?”
“About the platform. Like, helping immigrants like Lady D and stuff?” you ask.
“What? No. Look, promising change is great for votes, but do you think we’re going to implement human policies? Even humans don’t implement the policies they run on. For the love of God, being more like humans is the last thing we need. Besides, those immigrants are assholes. They stole your castle.”
“I think they were just trying to… look out for themselves,” you try to say, but Morrigan’s already climbing into the car and shutting the door.
Well, at least she’s happy with what you’re doing. You just don’t want to screw up again. You hate politics. Soccer is better.
After a lengthy period of signing autographs, shaking hands, and having your butt touched at least three different times, you’re allowed to go home. You might be able to enjoy being a huge celebrity if you weren’t so nervous about making mistakes. It’s cool that everyone can enjoy your aura, though. You feel useful.
At home, you find Demi in the living room with Tari. They’re watching the news, where Demon anchors are talking about the latest polling numbers, which heavily favor you and Morrigan.
“Hey, baby! You were great,” Demi says, beaming. Even Tari looks grudgingly approving. She’s always liked you, you think, but even she is impressed that you’re on your way to the Vice Presidency.
“I didn’t do anything,” you say modestly, seating yourself beside her. Cas appears with a glass of wine for you.
“Whatever you didn’t do, it’s working.” Demi frowns at a distant popping noise. “What is that?” she asks, making a face. You all get off the couch and go to the window, looking toward Lady D’s castle. “Fireworks?”
You frown and open the window so that you can hear more clearly.
“I think that’s gunshots,” you say.
“Ugh. Bad neighbors,” Tari says. “And no castle.”
Your heart crumples, but Demi doesn’t seem bothered. She squeezes your hand.
“What do I need with a castle when you’re taking me to the Red House?” she asks, kissing you on the lips.
