VD - Fundraising Part 6

After a leisurely dinner, Tari stops by to hear about your day. Of course, that turns into her telling a story about the time that she helped on a campaign and how that somehow led to a situation where she was in a closet with several auditors, giving them all blowjobs.

“…I tried to swallow as much as I could, but they were doing it all over my hair and my face. I was too tired to do magic, so here I am at this gala using tissues to clean up when you won’t believe who sees me…”

It’s an interesting story to you, but you can tell that Demi’s… a little tired of her mother’s stories. At bedtime, you help Demi into her nightie and she rubs some cream on her hands and arms before crawling heavily into bed. You slide in beside her contentedly.

“I thought you liked working.”

“I do. I also like watching TV.” She kisses your cheek.

“Do you want to get a TV in here?” you ask.

“Don’t need one.” She snaps her fingers and a magical screen appears. “That’s neat.”

“What’s popular in Demon World?” you ask as Demi starts flipping channels. You have checked out some horny Demon Daytime Soaps, but you don’t have a feel for things in a larger sense.

“Well, we go through cycles. We’re back in reality TV right now,” Demi says with a little eye roll. “Which is fun, I guess.” Right. All these demons are very old. They’ve seen everything a thousand times. “Blind Collector is hot right now because they’ve started doing celebrities.”

“What’s Blind Collector?”

“So… how to explain this. Demon Currency has value because it has to be brought in from other worlds. Energy. You know? And we have a whole system for going out and collecting it. They teach about this at Demon University. If you’re a succubus or an incubus, you get sent on these jobs, which are chosen according to specific criteria that plays to your strengths. So this show throws you into it completely blind and without powers. So it’s a chance to show off and win lots of energy or… get horribly embarrassed on TV. People like it because it’s really unpredictable.”

Demi stops there, making a face.

“What? What’s wrong?” you ask.

“Well,” she says worriedly. “Like I said, it’s pretty hot. And we are about to go into campaign season. Campaigning is about getting attention, and everyone’s watching Blind Collector right now.”

“You think that Morrigan wants to go on this show?” you ask.

Demi frowns. “Probably not. Morrigan’s old school. I don’t think she’d approve of that approach, but Trish and Albedo are different. If they do it, you and Morrigan have to do it.”

“Oh,” you say, a blank expression on your face. You’re suddenly worried. You knew that being in this big campaign would put you in a very public position, but you weren’t expecting to be doing reality TV. Well… maybe it won’t happen like that.
