As the thick, black, crushing mud crept up the sides of her face, Sue closed her eyes and concentrated. After a moment, with a tremendous sucking sound, the mud began to slowly push away from her body, until she was standing free in what appeared to be a hemispherical pit in the mire, every molecule of it pushed away from her body by her invisible **** field. Panting slightly, she looked up to see Kraven standing there, leaning against a tree.

“These swamps are quite treacherous, Mrs. Richards. The hot springs create currents that can pull down the unwary,” he said. ““From the skill you showed, you might have eluded me much longer, perhaps even to the sunset. But you did not.
