Unsuspected aid

Venus could already feel her body going numb and the third needle would put her down completely if it hit. Her mind raced, trying to come up with something but all she could think of were her goblin family and the children she barely knew. She might never see them again.

But something small burst from the tree line and spun threw the air, knocking the poisonous needle away from her. It was a carved piece was wood that she recognized as a boomerang. She had only seen one Hunter ever practice with it. The boomerang turned in the air and flew back towards where it came from just as a tall dark skinned Elf walked calmly out of the forest. He deftly caught the simple weapon and hooked it into his belt with one hand, while the other reached for another weapon.

This was Vazard the Weapon Master. Across his back were three swords of various size and shape. At one hip he had an ax stuck through a leather loop and a light rapier belted on beside it. On the other hip he had his boomerang and a whip. On his hands were leather gloves with metal studs at the knuckles for punching power if he got up close to a human sized target.

Venus knew that Vaz had come from a desert country across the sea two hundred years ago. His dark skin was even more exotic than the fair skinned elves of Fyrona. And when it came to weapons, no one knew more. Vaz had selected a large curved blade native to his homeland and pulled it from his back. That wasn't his biggest sword, and he had larger ones in the armory in Namina. This was his gear for what he called "Light Work" of for when he had to travel a great distance quickly.

"Letting something like this get you down Venus? You need to get back to training. The ones back home grow at least twice this size since they live in a desert and not a forest."

The Manticore had regrown its spikes and with a viscous snarl it fired all three. Vazard laughed and slashed down with a powerful strike, sending all three too the ground. Then he turned the slash into a sweeping movement, bringing the sword behind him and charged the Manticore as if it was all one fluid movenent.

Dakur and Boma had been so surprised by the aid, that they had stopped to watch, but now they resumed their stances, preparing to strike in time to distract the monster away from the Elf.
