Uncomfortably

The rest of the night is awkward to say the least. Katherine returns to her normal, loving self, acting like that dinner never happened. You avoid bringing up the issue in fear of setting your wife off. She even snuggles up close to you when you both got bed, her head resting on your chest, and you wonder where this sweet woman got all that anger from.

The next morning you wake up before Katherine and immediately head off to work. When you arrive you notice Bridgette is waiting at your desk.

"What the fuck was that last night?"

"Believe me, I have no idea, Bridgette. I've never seen Katherine like that before."

"I had no idea that your wife was such a bitch."

"Hey, she's not..."

"You're gonna tell me that she wasn't a complete bitch yesterday?"

You really don't want to start a fight with your partner, so you agree that your wife was slightly bitchy last night.

You both get to work, but it doesn't get any less uncomfortable between the two of you. You really don't want to talk about last night, so you avoid saying anything. This means you are sitting in silence for much of the day. After several hours, Bridgette finally speaks up.

"Hey, I bought a new TV and Hana and I have no idea how to hook it up." Hana was Bridgette's roommate. She had to live in an apartment because she couldn't afford a house on a cop's salary alone. "I was wondering if you wouldn't mind swinging by my place and installing it for me? That is if Katherine won't castrate you for doing it."

"Yeah, no problem. Katherine won't mind, trust me." You lie about that last part. You know Katherine would **** you if she knew you went over Bridgette's house.

You continue work and at the end of the day, you tell Bridgette that you will meet here at her house in a little while. You call up your wife and tell her that you have to work a little later than usual. She seems to buy your excuse, and you drive over to Bridgette's apartment complex.
