Chapter 57 by zankoo zankoo

What's next?

Tyler invites himself over

Tyler couldn't help but feel a bit of a twitch in his pants. Abbie was incredibly sexy, and flirting, and teasing, and all but telling him to push her even further.

"So," Tyler said. "Where could one continue this good time? I mean ... if one wanted to?"

Abbie turned to look at Jake, who shrugged. She looked at Chris as well.

"Don't ask me," said Chris. "I just met these two tonight."

Abbie face Tyler again. "I like it better when I don't have to explain everything. You're a smart guy, I bet. What do you think you should do?"

"Honestly, I think I should announce last call and shut this place down." Tyler looked up and down the bar, **** to face the slew of patrons still lingering. "Does that sound good?" he asked with a laugh.

"Yeah, it does," Abbie said, nodding.

"For real?"

"For real."

Tyler gave the room another look. He checked the clock. "It's early. I'd be missing out on a good night of tips."

"You sure would," said Abbie, leaning forward again. "Oh, sorry. You said 'tips,' I thought you said 'tits.'"

That got all three men cackling. Soon Abbie was laughing too. For a moment, the four of them were totally unaware of the world around them, just enjoying an honest moment of laughter and joy amongst them.

"Okay," Tyler said, recovering. "I might get fired over this, but YOLO, right?"

"Right," said Abbie, not sure what he was about to do.

Tyler turned around and rang a small bell that hung on the wall. "Last call!" he shouted. He turned to one end of the bar, then the other, calling to everyone. "Last call, last round, we have to close early tonight."

The buzz of the crowd shifted from a general murmur of conversation to one of a more energetic pursuit of one more drink or settling up a tab or asking why the bar had to close.

Tyler moved away from Abbie to attend to the swarming customers and get their final orders in. He served beers, cocktails, and shots, swiftly gliding up and down the bar. He printed checks, got signatures, and bid farewell to customers.

Gradually, the crowd thinned. Abbie stayed in her seat. As stools to her left and right were vacated, Jake and Chris sat. The three of them chatted idly, not really reflecting on their conversation with Tyler, not really saying anything about how long they would stay at the bar, and certainly not really asking each other questions about what was happening next.

Eventually, Tyler returned. "There it is."

Abbie looked around. "There's still people here. Do they all have to leave?"

"No." Tyler shook his head. "The room is open to the public, as long as the bar itself is shut down. People can lounge in the hotel all they want -- they just can't order anything to eat or drink if we're closed. And besides, there's two other bars and four other restaurants in the hotel. No one's going to go hungry."

Tyler winked at Abbie. He didn't make any eye contact with Jake or Chris, but they weren't of much interest to him anyhow. At this point, there was Abbie and only Abbie. He moved up and down the bar, settling tabs with other customers, cleaning, restoring bottles to their respective shelves, working as fast as he knew how to get his domain closed for the night. Every so often, he'd glance back toward Abbie and smile, never quite sure what might be in store for the night -- but eager to find out.
