Turn it on and dive in

Becky ignored the instructions on the side of the laptop that said to wait to use it until it was fully charged. That seemed silly, especially since it plugged into the wall. And she finally had something of her very own, something new and shiny and that she could use for whatever she wanted.

She started the computer up and took a few minutes to just look at all the cool new things she had access to. Some of the programs had nonsense names, but a lot of them were straightforward. Her new lifeline had a camera, a place for photos and videos, a music player, and it even had games! For someone whose only previous access to a computer had been an aging PC that struggled to play Solitaire, the young girl was overwhelmed by the choices she had available to her.
