Turn: 5 Day 2 Afternoon

“Did it look like this?” Xander said as he held up a book.

Buffy studied the image, “Yeah, that looks like our guy.”

Xander passed the book over to Amy. “A Balrog,” she said as she read through it. “Powerful, but they usually serve other demons. Protect points of power.”

“Ethan summoned it then,” Buffy said.

“Not quite,” Amy corrected. “Balrog’s only serve other demons. They never serve a human directly.”

“Maybe Ethan got it on loan from a different demon,” Xander suggested.

“Maybe. You think we take it too Giles?”

“We got lucky that Giles was chill,” Xander said as he looked around the room. Dawn was basically hanging off of Cordelia’s arm while Willow was laying on the couch with a blissful look on her face.

Amy could see where he was looking, “It seems like everyone had a positive experience. But not as positive as Buffy when, well…”

Buffy nodded, she knew what they were referencing. She’d drop to her knees for a five dollar bill right now. Man or woman, it didn’t matter. When she’d grumbled that to Cordelia the cheerleader had responded, ‘Don’t let your sister hear that.’

It was a thought Buffy was doing her best to put to the side for the moment. “Are the demon parts worth anything?”

“Absolutely. They are the same source as the spell, so we can strengthen it quite a bit. Really getting a good idea on how to counter it.”

“What would be the next step? To bring it to an end.”

Amy leaned back, “Probably some outside help. My Mom was in contact with a coven, I could probably reach out to them.”

“Not sure getting in touch with people your mother was associated with is a good idea.”

“If you have another option…”

Buffy shook her head. “Fine, we’ll keep it open as a possibility. What else?”

“Cordy got a number from the police station, could be a useful meetup. She said the cop from out of town seemed to have some ideas.”

“And Cordelia didn’t bother to actually get those ideas while she was there?”

Xander glanced over at his girlfriend, “I think that is a conversation for another time. But in terms of people we can reach out to, what about Tom? He seems to be in the know.”

“I’m not sure how we get to him in the frat house.”

“Who says it has to be the frat house? He has to go to other places right? Even just to buy more beer.”

“Even if we find him, he’s not going to open up just because we ask nicely,” Buffy responded.

“Who said anything about asking nicely?”
