Chapter 7 by catfish27 catfish27

What do you do now?

Try to Change Back

You quickly type into the holographic screen, "100% of people named John Doe are male."

It appears to change nothing. You have a sinking feeling in your stomach as you realize what the issue may be. Looking through the contacts, your own contact card lists the name "Caitlin Doe." At least your birthdate and your home address seem the same.

You change your previous statement. "100% of people named Caitlin Doe born on" -- your birthdate -- "are male."

A red pop-up appears. "Error: Statement Too Specific."

You almost want to throw your phone, but this is a holographic input/output that's coming from a device implanted in your hand or something. Okay, reverse things and you can start from scratch later, after you've had dinner or something.

You now type, "49.6% of the world's population is female."

That does change the people waiting on the opposite platform, but you're still decidedly female. Your skirt is a little longer, though.

Maybe it was something about the futuristic world? "0% of the world's population has food replicators," you type.

Nothing appears different. A magnetic levitation train arrives almost silently to pick up the people on the opposite platform. After it's gone, you see an advertising poster on that platform: "Get Your Protein in 12 Seconds/Healthy Choice Entrees for Fusion Ovens."

You still have a holographic display. In desperation, wanting to turn back to male now before you try anything else, you type, "0.01% of the world's population is female."

Does that work?
