Try and get a good look at the hole!

Your curiosity gets the best of you, and you walk over to where the police officers are standing. Hoping to get a better look, you join the crowd surrounding the ring of officers. You are pushed, shoved, and knocked around by the excited crowd, and you somehow end up at the front. All of a sudden, six or seven black Suburbans pull up, and around fifteen men and women get out. The police clear out as the feds take over, forming a tight circle of agents. Just then, the crowd surges towards the people guarding the hole. The sheer number of people overwhelms the circle of agents, and you are pushed closer to the gyrating hole. With a final push, you are shoved through the hole right as it closes up. Everything goes black as you hit your head on something hard.

You wake up slowly, and shake your head to clear your mind. Your memory rushes back to you, and you sit straight up, looking around you. You are in a strange place, with a dark sky with constant lightning. There is some scrub around you, and though the plants look alien to you, you can tell that you are in some sort of a desert. The air is warm and dry, and the ground is powdery. There is a cave to your north, and what looks to be some sort of an animal some ways to your west, about the size of a bear. To your south, there is a large oasis, and to your east the desert seems to go on forever.
