Trapped with the Creature

0505, March 12th, 2154

Location: Colonial Communications Relay

The creature was smelling the air. Donna pressed herself against the door while she thought. She could see it moving between the racks of servers and realized that for the first time it seemed to have trouble ascertaining her exact location. She wasn't sure why, but was thankful regardless. She wanted to scream for help, call for AUNTIE, anything, but was afraid the thing would hear her. If it could hear at all. She thanked all the way holy that it hadn't heard her yelling for AUNTIE and Todd earlier.

She searched frantically for an escape option. There was an emergency release for the door that was near the servers, but that meant she'd have to get close to the creature again, and now it appeared to have lost its preoccupation with the servers and was hunting for her. She searched frantically for an alternative and found a vent over the desk on the far left side of the room...

She dashed for it...

The jump from the floor to the desk was deft. Her grab for the vent equally so. She pried the vent open as the thing came out from behind the servers and fully into the front side of the room. It charged, and she reached out and grabbed the cover that had flipped down, flipping it back up over the entrance.

The creature hit with enough impact that the vent cover dented.

She knew it wouldn't hold long.

She turned to flee, her hands and knees carrying her through the HVAC duct as fast as she could go, not knowing how much time she had before it was in the vent with her.
