Tower scene
...
Rain poured against the tower, the windows covered in a constant watery haze. Little taps and prods filled the tower with every droplet, and thunder sounded in the distance.
Inside the storm made the tower feel almost cozy, if not downright terrifying.
...
You pushed through another door, and there he was. Just sitting there, reading a book next to the fireplace.
The fire crackled with a calm perpetuation, the only source of light aside from the occasional flash of lightning. A dramatic classical piece played in the background, fitting the thunderous aesthetic like a glove. If you weren't so focused on the mission at hand, you would have to appreciate the brilliance of it's design...but you had no time for appreciating villainous taste. {T} was sitting there, undefended, as if he knew it would come to this all along.
"Welcome, Daniel." He closed the book with a thud and looked towards you, eyes as calm and steady as the flame that reflected in them.
You brought your weapon up and aimed it as his head, "Hello, {T}. You seem..unprepared."
"What, do you really expect me to arm myself at such an age? Or perhaps set up a trap where you might die on your way up? All so I might live on another few years, slowly deteriorating with only memories for company?"
You nodded, "Sounds nearly sadistic enough to fit you."
"Oh don't be ridiculous Daniel! That'd be no way to end a good story now would it? The villain cowering in the upper-most levels of his tower, awaiting the imminent sounds of explosions or spike traps as the hero trips over some damned wire...no no no, that wouldn't do at all! After all this time it's only fair we have a chat, wouldn't you say? A proper confrontation! I could pick up a sword and fight you to the ****, a dramatic way to go for sure...but that'd be too risky. I might seriously injure you before I die. No..." He pours himself a glass of some alcoholic beverage and takes a sip, exhaling in delight. "No...that wouldn't do at all. Here..."
He poured you a glass and held it out.
"I..think I'll pass, thank you." You said, still holding your sword to his chest.
"Cautious as always...you'll make a fine character yet. Devious, cunning, heroic and when that gets old; villainous..."
He held out the book he had been reading, a leather-bound journal. You took it, slowly, fearing he night leap up and slice you to pieces if so much as blinked.
"I'm going to kill you now." You say, deciding he's too dangerous to be left alive..for Brayden's sake. For the sake of all his victims.
"You will kill me, Daniel, that's true. And I welcome my own **** with open arms, it's the way of the world, is it not? The good guys always win in the end, as that's the way it should be."
"Right..." you shake your head.
"Ah! You should take this," he reached around his chair and pulled out a rapier, pointing the hilt towards you.
"Why...?"
"It's what I used to kill my villain, humor me with the irony, would you?"
When you're still **** he tosses it towards you, scaring you half to **** as it falls at your feet.
"Jesus Daniel! Don't you understand what's going on here?"
You shook your head.
"You're me!"
