Chapter 37 by Noah_Peal
What does the second day of the trip have in store?
Tori and Marco have breakfast
It took all of Marco's restraint to not punch a sleeping Ollie in the face, repeatedly. He didn't care if it was sporting or not, he knew he deserved it, but doing so would only get him in more trouble than Ollie would ever be. If Marco was going to make Ollie pay, he was going to have to be smart about it. Knowing he would get back at Ollie sooner or later was the only thing that really allowed Marco to leave the room.
Having not attended the party herself, or the ensuing argument between her two roommates, Tori was up earlier than them and was able to dress and leave the room, throwing a fond smile over in Molly's direction, without waking them up. Tori paused when she saw Marco waiting for the elevator, but she put on a smile and continued forward.
"Good morning," Tori greeted Marco, making sure to stop several feet from him.
"Hey!" Marco greeted warmly, a smile stretching across his face. "Good morning. Are you feeling better?"
"Much better, thank you."
The awkwardness between them that had dissapeared last night came back full ****. Marco still felt the same about Tori, but now she was conflicted. While she had seen Marco in a new light and she had kissed him, none of her feelings for Xander had dissipated, and she had liked him for much longer than she had liked Marco. She couldn't just forget him, not without trying.
The elevator bell sounded and the two stepped in, Marco allowing Tori to go in ahead of him.
Only the elevator music kept the short ride from being completely silent. Tori shuffled her feet and Marco kept trying to make eye contact while trying to make it look like he wasn't trying too hard. It wasn't until the were out of the doors that Tori turned to Marco.
"We should talk."
Marco's heart fell out of his chest. He should have know that last night was too good to be true. Putting on as brave face as he could, he nodded.
They walked into the dining room off of the lobby and started adding food from the provided continental breakfast. The food was a little lower standard than Tori's usual fare and she settled for some fresh fruit and a croissant with jam. Marco had few opportunities to eat so well and he loaded his plate with food, which might help his mood with the news he knew was coming.
"I wanted to thank you for staying with me last night. I totally lost it and you were there for me. It was really sweet." Tori smiled.
Inwardly, Marco berated himself. 'Sweet. That's what us nice guys are. Sweet. Not boyfriend material.'
"I didn't really know what to think of you before. I— didn't really know you, and now I wish I had. Maybe I wouldn't have said no."
'Wait, what?'
"It's just that I have some feelings to sort out first. It wouldn't be fair to you."
Marco didn't know what to say. He thought Tori was going to reject him for being too nice, but it was just the opposite. It was because he was nice that Tori was reconsidering him.
"There's someone else?" Marco asked before he knew it was happening.
Tori's cheeks blushed and she nodded.
Marco pushed the food in his plate around, suddenly in higher spirits. Bittersweet news was better than bad news. With a hopeful smile, Marco stuffed a whole sausage in his mouth.
