Top stair breaks

As your foot finds the top step, it cracks. As soon as your back foot raises off the step below, it gives way, sending your weight crashing downward breaking through the step altogether. When your weight strikes the lower step, it gives way as well, as do the two other steps that get in your way. The darkness beneath the stairwell engulfs you. You fall about fifteen feet, landing hard on a wooden crate, which at first stops you, then gives way and collapses beneath you.

When you awake, you aren't certain what time it is, or where you are. Only that you fell hard, as your body aches to prove the point.

You sit up, holding your head. A splitting headache has taken over your senses.
