Cordelia held the mug of coffee in her hands as she looked at Xander. She had been excited for a normal date, but it turned out he actually had a lot he needed to talk about. And it had taken him a while, but he had learned conversations didn’t go great when everyone took their clothes off.

So they talked. About what had happened with Angel. With Buffy. And the plan.

Xander listened to Cordelia describe the idea of how they were going to cuck Angelus to play mind games with him, “Well, it worked,” he said sarcastically.

“I don’t apologize for what I did,” Cordelia said firmly. “We’re all still alive. Angel was well off his game. We saved lives.”

“And what’s happened with Buffy?”

She stared at him, “Worth it.”

“And if you were the one in her position?”

“Still worth it,” Cordelia said as she took a sip of her coffee. “I’m not an angsty little girl like her. People were dying. She wasn’t stepping up. Someone had to. I knew the moment I proposed the plan I might lose you. It was worth the risk.”

“You know,” Xander began as he thought over what she said, “I love you.”

She smiled at him, “I know, and I love you too.”

“I’m not going to give up on her,” Xander said. “Buffy, I mean.”

“I get that. It’s who you are. Speaking of who we are, I have a bit of bad news being we’re talking. I’ve got a family vacation to Europe coming up. No way out.”

“And I take it I’m not invited?”

“You’d hate it,” Cordelia assured him. “Besides, Sunnydale needs you. Faith is out with Giles trying to track down Buffy.”

“Yeah, maybe I’ll try to reconnect with Willow over the summer. We’ve grown a bit too far apart.”

“Well, if you end up fucking her…” Cordelia began.

“Not going to happen. She’s with Oz. Miss Calendar is with Giles. You’re enough for me.”

“Yeah, but I don’t want to be enough for you. If it’s not obvious, I really like the idea of you fucking other girls…as long as I’m number one,” Cordelia said as she began to think. “You know, I kind of miss Harmony. And Aura. I wonder if you could help us all reunite.”

Xander shook his head as a smile came to his face, “Anything for you.”
