Chapter 5
by Kougyoku
Kicked out of Sickbay, where does the doctor go next?
To the holodeck
Crusher walks down the hall towards the turbo lift. The door opens, revealing an empty turbo lift for hir exclusive use. An excellent opportunity, thinks the good doctor as shi steps inside. Crusher enters the turbo lift and turns around. "Holodeck." shi states, as the door closes.
A mechanical whirring is heard as the turbo lift begins its descent towards the holodeck, the lights in the back simulating descent. "Halt." Crusher states. The computer chimes in response, bringing the lift to a halt in-between decks.
The former doctor only has a few brief moments to accomplish hir plan. But that's all shi will need to repurpose the turbo lift into a turbo assimilation unit. Crusher presses hir fingers into the side of the turbo lift and hir assimilation needles and tubes spring out of hir hand and into the mechanical device. Shi drains nearly hir entire nanoprobe load into the passenger tube of the turbo lift.
The nanoprobes make quick work of the mechanical device as a pair of assimilation tubules come out, one from each side. They then retract as the turbo lift tube shimmers before settling into its holo-disguise.
Being a mechanical unit, the turbo lift receives no designation from either the Collective nor from hir. With hir injection tubules remaining embedded in the lift, shi issues the commands. "Turbo-lift assimilation unit. You are to operate with normal parameters at all times. Additional parameters: If loaded with less than three unassimilated passengers, assimilate both at once. Confirm."
The assimilated lift confirms its new instructions. "Confirmed. Stealth is upmost. Resistance is futile." Crusher removes hir assimilation tubules and the turbo-lift continues. Satisfied with hir work and in need of replenishing hir nanoprobes, Crusher enters the holodeck.
Who does the doctor meet at the holodeck?
New Assimilation Technique
How the Borg got their groove back
The Borg, fed up with their constant failure in assimilating humans, have found a new way to add to their technological and biological "perfection." They begin testing this new technique on the crew of the USS Nebuchadnezzar, NCC-60562. Will they find the new technique useful or will they need to reinvent the wheel again?
