To the Autoshop

We continue finding odds and ends and things we think we will need and then with a push through a side door we find ourselves inside the auto shop. There on the rack is a Belair Station Wagon which was obviously being restored. The old car is like the best prize yet I think as we lower it down and the girls look it over.

Soon we have it checked out and it seems road worthy though we are not going to start it yet. Finally we find ourselves in the cafeteria and then it is when things hit me. "Hey" I say out loud, "have you two noticed something strange?"

They look from one to the other and say, "No."

There have been no bodies here. It has been cleaned up.

The three of us look at one another trying to figure out who could have done the cleanup and if they cleaned up here, then they would be cleaning up everywhere so there had to be some kind of group in charge.

There is no food, not even in the vending machines and as one we streak back to the auto shop. Darla get's behind the wheel and fires it up as both Yasmine and I pull the chains raising the door.

Yasmine takes the bitch seat and I the outer side seat as we roll out and then down to the street. Slowly we motor with the head lights off until I see lights coming towards us.

"Pull over to the curb quick and kill the engine" I say in a hiss.

We all duck down and then hear the crunch of gravel as the car slides to a stop beside us a female voice says, "Hey Captain, I found a car not on the map here by the **** store."

"Anyone in it" the Captain asks over the radio.

"No it is empty but it looks like it is the one from the high school"

"Get up to the school ASAP and check it out. I will send another unit out to check the block."

"Yes ma'am" the voice says and then the car drives off.

I peer up and watch the military jeep bounce over the field towards the school. "We need a safe place" I whisper and then thinking I remember that by the mall there is storage area and direct Darla to drive us there.

We move in that direction without any further problems and pull into one of the bays. Getting out of the car we pull the bay door down and start walking back to the mall. Again we see the sweep of lights as a vehicle crosses the intersection in front of us making us lean against one another as we huddle for safety.

"Let's go back to the storage area and sleep there" I say leading the girls back to where we parked the car.
