Is everything green?
To be seen...over with the red and blue
Alan had been waiting for Lacy outside the station. They'd taken to carpooling before, so no one would think anything of them leaving together. When he saw her on the way out, they walked back to her car. She started it up and said, "Remember. We're just going as off duty officers, concerned about his safety as someone in the at risk area."
"Won't you think it's a bit suspicious we're only checking on him?"
"Not if we're honest."
"So we just tell him we're suspicious?"
"...shit. Good point. We'll think of something on the way."
She stuck the address into her phone and followed along.
Alan sat, thinking of a good reason. "What if we say we're checking in on some of the people who the NPP visited earlier?"
Lacy shook her head, "No, that's too easy to see through. No one's going to tell us to, and we're not in uniform."
"Catching up on interviews?"
"They already asked him questions."
"Verifying his answers?"
"Easy, if I'd been inside. But I wasn't, so I don't have his answers in my pad."
Alan smiled as they turned onto the street they needed, pointing at a little black car with a tall and short man inside. In white suits. "Warning him about possible stalkers?"
"Shit...yeah that's a good one, but if they see us go in they'll just get worse. They'll think we know something they don't."
"Then turn around and we'll go home."
"It's all we can reasonably do, I guess..."
Later...
