“I haven’t gotten bullied today!” Mike exclaimed. “I’ve already forgotten what that felt like, it’s been so long!”

Jade breathed a sigh of relief. He didn’t suspect anything...

“And you should be grateful!”

The sudden voice from behind them made Jade and Mike jump in surprise. When did Jason sneak up on them like that?

Jason continued, full of swagger. “I’ve decided to leave you alone, Mike. I’m no longer your enemy. I’ve got bigger fish to fry.”

“Oh...ok?” Mike responded, confused by this turn of events.

“Anyways, Jade, I was thinking you come over to my place today. We’ve gotta work on that science project, after all.”

Jade narrowed her eyes in annoyance. An afternoon with Jason sounded about as appealing as a gas station bathroom, which is to say, not at all.
