Chapter 11 by Sentinel_011 Sentinel_011

What's next?

Time to wake up

As soon as you says the words, Ilyanna's body falls limp.

"That... That was..." she mutters, her lips only barely working.

"Incredible," you say.

She does her best to nod.

"Unfortunately, it is time for you to go."

"Wha-?" she half-moans.

"My dear, you forget. You may have passed your Harrowing, but you have yet to return to your world. And while I would love nothing more than to keep you here forever, experiencing this sensation over and over for the rest of time, you have a life waiting for you out there."

She sighs.

"I suppose you're right," she says, her strength returning, "So, how exactly do I do that?"

You smile.

"I can send you back. You will awaken in your bed, feeling rested and more in touch with your powers than ever. And do not fear, I will always be there with you."

You hold one hand aloft, your thumb and forefinger pressed together.

"Goodbye, for now, my love."

You snap your fingers, and the world fades around her.

True to what the Spirit told her, Ilyanna awakes to find herself in her bed."Are you alright? Say something, please..." she hears.

She runs a fair hand over her face, rubbing the sleep out of her eyes.

"Jowan?" she asks.

"Ilyanna! Oh, I'm glad you're ok. The Templars carried you in this morning, I didn't even notice you'd been gone all night."

"Well, I'm back now."

"And a good thing, too. It's nearly midday. The Templars were getting nervous," he says, "I've heard about apprentices that never come back from Harrowings. Was it really that dangerous?"

As she opens her mouth to answer him, her mind is flooded with images of her... experiences.

"It was... not something I will soon forget," she says, fighting the blush creeping onto her face.

"What was it like?"

"Jowan, you know I can't tell you."

"Please? Just one little hint and I'll stop asking, I promise."

She sighs.

"Fine. One hint," she says, "You have to enter the Fade."

"Wait, that's it?"

Ilyanna raises an eyebrow at him.

"You said one hint, that's all you get," she says playfully.

Jowan glares at her, though half-heartedly.

"Well then. I guess now that you're moving to the nice mage's quarters, 'll just be here all alone, waiting for them to call me for my Harrowing."

"That sounds about right," she says, "And I'll be living it up, with no Curfew, access to more materials, and my own private room."

"Ugh, I hate you sometimes."

" I know," she says, a proud smile on her face.

"Seriously though, when the hell are they going to call me? I've been here even longer than you have, and I've been ready for a long time!" he says, "What's Irving waiting for?"

Ilyanna sighs.

"You want me to ask him about you?"

"Please? I'd really appreciate it."

"Fine," she says, rolling her eyes.

"Great. Matter of fact, you should go see him now. They told me to tell you that when you woke up."

Ilyanna quirked an eyebrow.

"Why the hell didn't you say that sooner you git?!"
