When everyone else had left, Rot called Taylor over to him. "You know," he said, "that you were very bad. Name-calling is one thing but you egged Luke on to the point where he could have been badly hurt."
"I thought he could beat you up with no problem."
"And then you tripped me when Coach Phillips was attacking."
"Coach Phillips was in charge."
Clearly Taylor was not in charge. Some people, Rot knew, needed to have someone else take responsibility for them. Others, though, had that role **** on them and never knew that they had options... or perhaps they never had options at all. Clearly it was Rot's responsibility to give Taylor some options. "Follow me." Rot led Taylor into the girls' locker room.
