Three Versus Three

While you hoped that the two wouldn't argue like this and you do your best efforts to calm them down, the sudden snap of a tree twig alerts your ears as you twist your head around to the source of the noise. It was hard to gauge the direct spot with the pair of arguers, a sudden orange glow spits a wide fireball towards you!

"Shit, look out!" You warn the two as you duck down. The fire soars past you, nearly burning the tips of your ears to lob and strike the confused duck behind you. Gold tumbles back in a pained quack while Jackal twists around in shocked surprise.

In the darkness of the thicket of trees outside of the lake, you occasionally see a purple glint of eyes move through the dark, along with a faint trail of embers. Jackal interrupts with his voice before you can successfully track the sound, "Where'd the hell did that come from? Is it another infected?"

It was unfortunate that you devoted so much attention to the attacker ahead of you, that you were taken by surprise when another attack launches from behind you. A large torrent of water crashes against the backs of both you and Jackal, shoving you away from where you stood and sliding along the ground, hurting your leg more. You growl out at the sudden surge of pain, and with a lift of your head, you see a large feral stomping towards the lot of you. A big blue gator, trudging forward in a hunch with a drooling, toothy smile on its face.

It was an infected Feraligatr. And with another head turn, you see an infected Charmeleon wade in from the treeline towards you as well. Both males from what you can see, and both eager to claim the food they were now closing the distance to.

You wondered aloud in your head if things could get worse, only to hear a long howl to the night sky. The rampant paw-steps of another trespasser triggers your head to swing around, just in time to see the open clawed hands of some canine come at you with purple glowing eyes. You grunt, swing yourself on the ground, and kick the creature off of you upon impact, but the feral still manages to rake your cheek with the claws before hitting the grass by you.

The attacker quickly leaps back onto a stand, hunched at first until it rises to a very slender tall stance. A female Mightyena was before you, gleaming purple eyes in delight as she licks some of her fingers of your blood. The hungry tongue smears around to get a taste of you, but you have a feeling it wasn't just your blood she wanted to taste, but all of you.

Gold staggers back with a soot stain at his chest, clutching it as he grunts, "Oh great, just fuckin' great, you fuckers brought a bunch of freaks from the bog with you."

Jackal groans from the water soaking his body and readies his arms for a fight, backing up with Gold. "As if! They heard your loud quacking from a mile away!"

"Guys..." You groan while mirroring their movements to stand. You, Jackal, and Gold are all back-to-back now as the three ferals now circle you, debating in their own hungry minds of who to go for, or what opening they can take advantage of. It was perplexing that people that acted like animals still had a mind of intelligence to them, as if using the minds they had before to just a different, primal cause. "...We each take one to fight. If we defeat one before the others, then we help whoever needs it the most, got it?" You give your best plan in the moment to them, only for the two to disagree.

Jackal snarls, "As if I'd help the fuckin' squirt over there."

Gold quacks back, "I won't need the help! Worry about yourself, soppin' bitch!"

You didn't have time to argue as the ferals start to close in now, and you have to pick your target in a rush...
