Third Period

The morning classes went more or less like usual until third period when you have Miss. Goldwater's class...Natalie's. You enter the classroom to find that you're actually very early and nobody else has arrived yet. Still, it takes a moment for you to realize that Natalie being your teacher is a very real thing.

She's sitting and looking over her notes when you enter and she looks up, "Oh, John. Come here for a second."

Moving up to the head of the class, you get briefly assailed by Natalie's perfume. It's certainly the same kind she always wore in high school and smells great. You suppose some things never change, "Something you need Miss....Goldwater? Sorry, it's going to take me awhile to get used to calling you that and not Natalie."

She chuckles and relaxes back in her chair, "I'm sure. Look, one of the stipulations for me working here is to ask my friends whether they feel comfortable with me as their teacher or not. If not, then you'll just be moved to another class. So, do you have a problem with me being your teacher?"

"Of course I don't have a problem with it. It's just a bit weird and i'd imagine that will pass." Her expression brightens up as you answer. You wouldn't have said that you had a problem with it even if you did. She has always been a teacher and here she is living her dream job and one of her students is her best friend. In a way, you suppose she has always been your teacher. She helped you when you had a hard time with your homework and you studied with her. Now it just seems that it's in a more official category.

"Good! I'm glad to hear it. Go ahead and take a seat." It seems as if she's already gotten comfortable with being a teacher. although she always was confident in herself.

As you return to your seat, Olivia enters and eyes Natalie with confusion. Her eyebrows furrow briefly before she sits in her seat. You never really talked about Natalie much with Olivia, but you're sure that she probably saw photos of her with you and other such media. So it's not surprising that she may recognize her. Hopefully this doesn't cause any problems.

Natalie gets up from her desk and begins, "Good morning class, My name is Natalie Goldwater. I'm sure some of you may recognize me, because I used to be a student here. However, now that i'm a teacher. I would very much appreciate it if those who do know me treat me with the respect that my position entails."

Thus starts Natalie's first day of teaching. You're surprised at how well she did at talking about history. Something that typically makes your eyes go closed. However, at times you were more distracted by Olivia's eyes boring into the back of your head ever since Natalie introduce herself. You knew that you were going to have to explain yourself and your relationship with Natalie.

Sure enough, you don't get far down the hall before Olivia catches up to you, "Natalie Goldwater? Isn't that the girl you hung out with before we got together?"

"Well...yeah. She is." You admit.

She pulls on your arm and stops you from continuing and gives you a very serious look, "Was there anything...between you and her? Like, I know you mentioned her, but were you two like...a thing?"

You process the question for a moment. It's true that you and Natalie never got intimate and were very much just friends. Despite that, saying that you were just friends doesn't really describe your relationship with her. The two of you were close and were together nearly constantly.
