Think it over

You glean over the rest of it, but it’s more of the same. No wonder everyone was so freaked out. You’re kind of freaked out yourself. The lady that called your doctor seemed surprised that you were still alive. Does that mean it’s fatal? What did that place do to you?

And why is the Kirijo group so interested in you?  You’ve heard the name before.  You think it was some kind of privately owned brain trust.  Do they know what’s happening to you?  Do you want to find out?  What if they stick you in some sort of lab to do all sorts of heinous experiments?  Maybe they were the ones who dragged you into that other world, just to see what would happen!  You got to get to Hinako and get home before they show up.  They wouldn’t dare try anything at a cop’s house.  You’re about to get Imari’s attention when you hear someone approaching the desk.

“Can I help you?” Imari asks someone.  You hear a gruff sounding man reply, “yes, we’re looking for the patient file on a Doe John.  We were told to come here.”  You can hear the nervousness in Imari’s voice, “I-I-I’m sorry.  W-w-w-we’re not supposed to g-g-give out that kind of information.  Only staff members are allowed.”  Another man speaks up, “don’t worry, we’re authorized.”  You hear a rustling of paper, “O-o-oh, I see.  I’ll go g-get it for you,” Imari says.  She rounds the corner and starts when she sees you, as if she forgot you were back here.  “There’s two guys with guns out there,” she whispers fearfully, “what do I do?”  You hand her the file.  “It’s alright.  Just give it to them,” you whisper.  She looks on the verge of tears as she takes the folder from you, almost dropping it as you release it.  Imari walks back over to the desk and gives it to them.  Just then, you hear a radio crackle to life.  Someone on it (a female, from the sound of it) says, “all teams report, over.”  Everyone sounds off.  “Team A, we’ve got the body and the autopsy reports, over.”  One of the men with Imari speaks up, “team B, we got the patient records, over.”  Next you hear a woman chirp in through the speaker, “team C here.  We’ve got a problem Mitsuru, he’s not in his room.  He left his jacket here.  We found some clips in the pockets, over.”

“Very well, search the area.  All units, be advised, subject may be armed.  Proceed with caution and remember; we need him alive.”

 “Roger that, continuing search.  Team C out.”  Apparently, they’re looking to bring you in by **** if they have to.  The banter on the radio continues, “team D here.  We have the girl in our custody.  She was staked out across the street.  She put up a fight so we had to subdue and restrain her, over.”

Oh shit!  They must be talking about Hinako!  You were so caught up wondering what they wanted with you, you forgot that Hinako was a part of this too.  You have to get to her somehow!  They’re probably keeping her nearby while they search for you.  “Come on, we should look too,” says thug one.  You hear Imari gasp in fright and some shuffling.  Then you hear the sound of a gun cocking, which sends a shiver down your spine.  “What are you doing?  She said we need him alive!” says thug two.  “Relax, I’ll aim for his legs.  Miss, stay in here and keep your head down.”

‘How considerate of him,’ you think to yourself.  They begin to walk away when suddenly you feel a weird tugging sensation and the light in the room flickers a little.  The radio squawks back to life, “SHIT!  CROSSOVER IMMINENT!  ALL TEAMS FALL BACK TO THE RALLY POINT!”

“But what about the other guy?  We can’t just leave him here!”

“He’ll just have to manage.  Now REGROUP!”

That’s when all the lights go out and everything goes dark.
