Chapter 26 by Shibbar Shibbar

What's next?

They were overrun

They climbed as fast as they could, but it was just not enough. Closer and closer the horde of leering, ugly faces got to them. The Morloks in the lead leaped and piled onto both Nora and Brock, and there was no hope of getting the brutes off. Scratched, bleeding and battered they were dragged to the altar where the Morlok priestess stood. She grinned with a deranged face, a toothy, misshapen smile. They were both tied down much to their struggling.

"Let go you bastards!" Nora screamed at the Morloks handling her. Brock was more quiet but struggled just as much. Nora's face was red, and her voice was hoarse. The great big black egg shaped stone loomed over them both like a towering building. "Fuck! Goddamn! Kurwa holera!"

"Mrglgrlgrl! Grllarl! Mrgrgrggl!" The priestess raised her arms at the congregation, and from out of a nearby basket she took out a pitch black leech the size of a basketball. It squirmed in her gnarled hands, trying to jump off onto her head, but she would not let it. She neared Brock.

"Don't you fucking dare! Get away from him!" Nora slammed her head against the altar. Brock cringed as far as he could, contorting his body, but he knew there was nothing he could do and that he was at the Morlok's mercy. The priestess let go, and the leech shot out from her hands and swallowed Brock's head while. Brock struggled but then stopped after a moment, lying completely still as if asleep. From behind Nora heard a powerful 'CRACK!' as the stone shook. The golden runes adorning it began to glow with an unholy aura, and the priestesse's eyes widened with what seemed to be amazement or glee. The congregation prostrated themselves in a wave.

It was now Nora's turn. The Morlok took another slimy leech from out of the basket.

"No! Stop! Don't bring that near me! Stop! No! Noo!" She pleaded, but it didn't stop her any. The leech jumped from the priestesse's hands and enveloped Nora's vision. She screamed and shouted, and then suddenly, like a powerful strike, her mind was filled with unearthly, ungodly, incomprehensible rambling and noise that was unimaginably deafening. She could not comprehend a single thing and at that moment she went utterally and completely mad.

Another crack appeared on the stone, and a great fragment fell away. The air suddenly grew stale and heavy, and light and dark itself flickered and fuzzed at this non existent entity that was just borne. The Morloks died by the droves, but this was all by design. A terror oozed from the stone, not liquid or gas or solid, but all at once and none of them. The terror shrieked a cry that struck the remaining Morloks insane, their ears and eyes haemorrhaging, and their mouths frothing with foul white bile.

The world would never be the same again.

An end far worse than a bad end.
