They want to live, so Link becomes leader of their people.

"LIVE!" shouted the Hinox in the bar, their eyes all on Link.

Link soaked up their praise, and turned to give Telma a savage smirk. She would submit to him now, Link knew that. A sudden knocking came from the front door of the tavern, causing everyone to freeze. With a single motion Link let go of Telma and stood to his full height, his head scrapping the ceiling, and strolled over to the door, the eyes of every Hinox in the room on him. Link lowered himself down to the door and opened it, revealing a guard. Not just any guard, either, but Link's friend Jacques. He stared at Link's enormous eye in fear, his body shaking. "I-I heard there was a disturbance in the tavern," he squeaked out, his eyes moving from Link to what he could see of the other large forms in the building. "Wha-What are you?"

While Link considered telling Jacques who he really was, he knew it would just complicate matters. Instead, he fixed the guard with a haughty stare and told him in a rumbling basso, "There's been a magical incident, we don't want to be here any more than you do. Tell Princess Zelda that Telma and Link are involved, she'll understand." Clearly waiting for an excuse to leave, Jacques quickly scampered away, leaving Link alone with the rest of his new tribe.

It was another hour until company arrived once more. The Hinox spent the time trying to sleep, all except Link and Telma, each keeping an eye on the other. Something had passed between them, and both were unclear if it would lead to a murderous brawl or an enormous lovemaking session. Link answered the door again, noticing that none of his fellow female Hinox had woken up yet. On the other side of the door was Zelda in the same black cloak she'd worn when Link first met her. She'd once been of a height with Link, but now she was a less than half his height. So small...

"Hinox haven't been sighted in these lands in centuries," Zelda said, her tone acidic. "How have you come here, and why?"

Zelda's comments hurt Link's pride more than he had expected, and part of him very badly wanted to smash her into pieces for the insult. Instead Link took a deep breath and told her, "It's me, Link. There was some new drink that Telma had imported, Hinox Honey, and it turned all of us that drank it into these monstrous beasts. You either need to change us back, or find us somewhere to live, quickly."
