Chapter 22 by reaper13
How does Simon and Cynthia’s relationship develop?
They start hanging out at university
The following day Cynthia already wanted to meet Simon again. She texted him if they could meet, but he send her beck that he was already following a lecture. After a few more texts Cynthia found out where it is being held as well as when it finishes. By the time Simon and the other students exited the classroom, Cynthia was already waiting for him.
“Oh, Cynthia. You’re here?” Simon asks.
“I felt like spending some time with you. You don’t mind, right?” Cynthia says.
“No, not at all.” Simon replies. “I just … never had a girl waiting for me.”
Cynthia grabs him by the arm and starts walking. “You’re not used to having a girlfriend, right?”
Simon surprised asks, “Girlfriend?”
“You don’t like it?” Cynthia asks.
“No, I do.” Simon says. “It’s just … wow, a girlfriend.”
They continue chatting as they walk through the hall, until they come at a crossing. Suddenly a girl comes from around the corner and bumps into Simon, dropping her stuff.
“Oh, I’m sorry.” The girl says.
“No, don’t worry.” Simon says. “Let me help.”
Simon quickly bends over and helps the girl pick up her stuff. Not something she can see one of her exes do. Gosh, he is so different.
While picking up some of the girl’s papers, Simon notices something.
“Say, are you perhaps a member of the diversity committee?”
“Yeah, I am.” The girl says. “My name is Sally.”
“Wait, you are one of the people who organized the white girl Wednesday event?” Cynthia asks.
“Yeah, I am.” Sally says. “Why are you asking?”
“Well, we participated with it. We both did.” Cynthia says, pointing at the guy giving Sally her stuff. “It was a really great idea. If it wasn’t for white girl Wednesday I probably never would have met Simon.”
“I see.” Sally says while she studies the couple.
“You know, the committee is currently gathering testimonies from participants to try and drum up some more popularity for future white girl Wednesdays. Would you mind providing us with such a testimony?”
Cynthia smiles and says, “Not at all, I’d love to.”
“Great, thanks.” Sally replies. “I have a meeting to get to, so I’ll have to go now. So people head to the diversity committee office once you’ve written down your testimony. It would be of great help.”
Simon and Cynthia wave Sally goodbye and wish her good luck with her meeting. A few minutes later they are sitting on the school’s lawn penning a testimony.
“I am Cynthia, and I am I participant of white girls Wednesday.”
“No, that’s not good.” Cynthia thinks and puts a line through the sentence.
“My name is Cynthia and I am a black girl who joined white girl …”
“That doesn’t feel right either.” And she puts a line through that sentence as well.
She looks at Simon and asks, ‘How are you going?”
“I’ve got something.” He says. “Here take a look.”
“Simon,
I always thought white girls were best. Then I met Cynthia on a white girls Wednesday and we have been a couple ever since. Sorry white girls, black is simply better.”
“Really?” Cynthia asks while giving the evil eye. “You thought white girls were best?”
“Not ever since I met you.” Simon replies with a big smile.
Cynthia fails at suppressing a smirk, then goes back to studying Simon’s testimony to try and hide her face.
It is short and to the point. Not much room for misinterpretation.
She gives Simon back his notes and tries again.
“Cynthia,
For the longest time I had bad luck with boyfriends. When my friends told me to try other guys, I decided to search for one at white girl Wednesday. There I met Simon. He is radically different from the guys I’m used to and I look forward to staying with him.”
Cynthia holds passes her notes to Simon and asks, “What do you think?”
Simon takes a moment to read it, then says, “You’re really looking forward to being my girlfriend?”
“Absolutely.” Cynthia says.
Simon looks at Cynthia. He has a big smile and Cynthia believes his eyes might be a bit moist.
“I look forward to being the best boyfriend you ever have.” Simon says, and leans in to give her a kiss on the cheek.
Cynthia moves her face to the side and kisses Simon on the lips instead. In seconds the two are French kissing.
“Mmmh, if this weren’t a public place I wouldn’t mind taking another ride on his dick again.” Cynthia thinks.
When they are done making out, they take their notes and bring them to the office of ‘the mandatory diversity committee’.
Upon entering the room then see a white and black girl holding hands while having their pictures taken.
Soon after it is their turn to stand in front of the camera.
Simon wraps his arms around Cynthia and they both smile. Sally, the camera girl takes three pictures of them. Then Cynthia puts her hands around Simon’s waits and stands on her toes to give him a kiss. Sally takes another couple pictures of them kissing.
“You guys look amazing.” Sally says. “You’re gona convince a lot of guys to go black.”
“Or maybe a few girls to go white?” Cynthia asks.
“That too.” Sally replies. “But there are way more white guys then black girls, and very many of them refuse to see the benefits of diversity.”
Cynthia can’t blame Sally. Black students are in the minority.
When leaving the committee’s office Simon says. “My next lecture is at 2 pm. When’s yours?”
“I’ve got one at 3 pm.” Cynthia says.
Simon grabs her hand and asks, “Anything you want to do in the meantime?”
What does Cynthia want to do?
