Chapter 4
by Orlog4
So much to your backstory. Time to meet your parents.
They have some interesting news for you
You arrive at your parents’ home and are greeted with a stormy hug by your mother before you made it halfway to the front door. You don’t resist too much when you were almost dragged by **** to the kitchen where coffee and cake awaits you. You get the feeling that you really spend much more time away from home than you originally planned.
For the next hour you have to tell your parents everything about what has happened since your last visit. No detail is too small or too unimportant for your parents and your mother insists that you take at least three slices of the cake. When it comes to you moving back to town you hesitate to tell them everything. You don’t want to lie to them, but you feel uncomfortable by telling them the whole story. In the end you just keep the part where you had sex with Layla as small as possible and tell them more about her father being a control freak, which is not exactly a lie after all.
Especially your father seems to have little understanding for Mr. Harrington’s actions. In his eyes Layla was an adult and Mr. Harrington acted like a maniac towards you, his own daughter and the hospital. Your mother worries more about your current situation. With the loan and you being currently unemployed. When you tell them that you wanted to work here as a doctor, she immediately offers you to move back in your old room. You reluctantly agree, but only until you find a place to live on your own.
Then, to your surprise, your father informs you, that the city council has offered a huge financial bonus for a doctor who is willing to work here. It seems that the number of doctors who want to work in rural areas has drastically decreased over the last few years. Since rural areas and small towns don’t offer too much excitement and no great career chances, there are hundreds of small towns who offer a respectable amount of money. Still, most of the current doctors’ offices in rural areas have no successor and when the doctors retire, the people around have to go greater lengths to get to a doctor. And even then, it is sometimes pure gamble to get an appointment.
You have heard about this during your studies and know that the American Medical Association (AMA) offers financial support to doctors who work in small town, but you had no idea Cornflower Fields has such a situation as well.
However, at least this makes you next steps very clear. You will go to town hall just tomorrow and get these bonuses as well as the old doctor’s office in town. With some luck it is enough to pay of most of your depts and start a new life. The rest of the day you spend with your parents and they tell you how much the town has changed over the last few years. It hasn’t changed much to be honest and most of your old classmates have left too in order to work in the larger towns and communities around. But at least a few of your old friends are still there.
Happens anything else?
Old flames still burn bright
A lot has changed in your sleepy hometown
Growing up in a sleepy, if not boring small town, you always knew you would leave to study in the big city as soon as possible. But things went terrible wrong you were more or less to come back to live in your old hometown. To your surprise, a lot has changed since you were gone. New companies, more activites, better chances and your old friends are grown up and became incredible hot. You got a second chance to live the live you ever dreamed about in your old hometown. The question is, what will you do with your second chance?
