They Hold out

Karuuk stood back as his Orcs charged the Shadow Hunters. Venus knew that if she could take him out, the others would lose their nerve, but she didn't have the chance to charge him as his forces surged past him. Venus wanted to tell Rose to protect Rondo, but the front runner of the Orcs in front of them was already upon her. Venus blocked the attack and with a flick sent his jagged-edged blade spinning into the throat of the next closest Orc. Venus spun with well practiced skill and planted a kick into his chest that sent him flying back into the crowd around him.

Venus caught a glance of Rose finishing off an Orc before using the corpse as a shield to defend against another. Venus knew that letting her focus stray for too long could end up killing them all so she quickly returned her attention to the enemies in front of her. Three more Orcs were now charging the young Huntress. The first swung wildly for her and she easily ducked under the blow. She slashed her blade across his middle before coming up behind him. She dodged the second Orc's attack before blocking the third's. She used her blade to push him back and then swept his foot from under him with her own leg.

Venus started to turn and deal with the last Orc from the attacking trio, but she misjudged the speed the fallen one would recover. He grabbed her legs as she started to turn and with a startled yelp she fell to her knees. She managed to jerk a leg free and kick the Orc in his face until he released her. Venus was about to try to regain her footing, but suddenly Karuuk was there. A rough fist slammed into her face and she felt the world spin and the next thing she knew she was on her back.

"No! Venus, hold on! Arg, get off me!"

Venus felt rough hands grabbing her arms and she was **** onto her knees again. She was having trouble focusing after the hard blow, but she saw Rose was being held by five large monsters. One of them made his way in front of her and slammed a fist into her gut, making her drop to her knees ****. Venus struggled against her captors trying to get to the younger Huntress, but Karuuk stepped in front of her and raised his large fist to strike her again. But the blow never landed.

Two large, furry hands grabbed the Orc's head and ripped it from the body as easily as snapping a twig. The body fell the side and a very large, angry werewolf stood in its place. Rondo hefted the Morningstar he had brought along and gave a wolfish grin at the Orcs holding Venus.

"I suggest you be letting my mate go now, you Pig-Nosed jackasses!"

The Orcs did as he wanted, but it was so they could charge beast in front of them. The ones holding Rose had dropped the **** girl and were also charging him from behind. This didn't matter because now that she was released and knew her mate was ok, Venus had regained her senses and grabbed her fallen sword. She ignored the ones charging Rondo from the front and slid through the wild throng of combat to cover his back.

Rondo was amazed at how quickly his mate reacted after ordeal. She was sporting a black eye from the blow Karuuk had given her, but her skill and grace were still intact. She slid past the Orcs who had largely forgotten her and ducked under Rondo's swing as the spiked mace slammed into his closest enemy. The momentum of such a powerful beast swinging a heavy weapon carried the attack straight through the middle of the Orc, and into the side of the next one. A third Orc slashed downward with a sword, but Rondo just caught the blade with his free hand and laughed when the creature's eyes bugged out in fear. Rondo jerked the Orc closer and ripped its throat out with his powerful wolf jaws.

Venus for her part was doing just as well. Rose was beyond the field of battle now and the enemy was completely focused on her and Rondo. Venus ran her blade through the chest of the fastest Orc and spun, slashing it out of him and into the side of the next. She kicked the first dead Orc into a third that tried to come around his other side. Venus danced through the next few attackers, using dodges and blocks before countering her enemies for the kill. There were too many to focus on straight combat, so instead she used her speed and skill to keep her attackers disoriented and finishing them with quick and precise attacks.

The battle was over quickly and when the last Orc fell, Venus looked around, still ready for more to charge and was surprised that there were none left. Rondo was bleeding from several shallow cuts and the one on his hand was already healing. The blood covered wolf was panting heavily from exhaustion and dropped to one knee. Venus rushed to him but he waved her back before changing back to his human form.

"That was fun. Next time though, lets skip the part where I'm sleeping and get right to me kicking ass and saving you."

"I'd like that too," Venus laughed and hugged him despite the blood covering him. He returned the hug before looking over at their fallen comrade.

"She did well. I'm glad you weren't alone."

Venus was glad too. The two women had done everything they could and had managed to keep her mate alive and had somehow held out long enough for him to recover. It was then she came to realize something: Rondo was her mate and the two of them were hardly a pack. Maybe Rose would be interested in mating with Rondo too? She had certainly seemed interested in their sex life.

"She's a strong woman Rondo. And I think she would be a great addition to our family."

Rondo pulled back from her and looked at her in shock for a moment. She could see he was conflicted about what she had said, but there was interest in his eyes. She wasn't surprised since most men had fantasies about multiple lovers.

"Lass are you sure? Yeah, as a wolf I do feel the urge to expand our pack, but I love you. You are more than my mate, you are my wife."

"I know my love, but as your wife and your mate, I can tell that you have the drive of an Alpha. You need a pack and she has shown to me that she could be useful. She healed you when you were poisoned and had the good sense to protect you from the attackers at our backs while I handled the front."

"Ok. Lets take her away from this carnage and once she awakens and we are all clean, we can make the offer."
