Chapter 5 by vic_elor vic_elor

Who will the villains give up?

They'll give up Jinx

“If you can guarantee we’ll beat these little pricks, I’ll gladly give you Jinx.”

I could tell now it was Lex who was speaking to me.

“Why you rotten sons of bitches! You’re betraying me after all I’ve done for you?” Jinx said, fuming at her betrayers.

“Oh come now,” Lex said with great contempt “You can’t possibly expect the rest of us to pass on such a lucrative deal. We’re guaranteed victory in a battle that could otherwise go either way and all we have to give up in exchange is an insignificant little sorceress who has been holding us back! That seems like a win-win to me.”

“Oh, I’ll make you eat those words!” Jinx screamed.

Her plan was simple but it would be sufficient enough to get ****. Her black magic caused stress on one of the faults in the ceiling above her former allies. As the fault worsened, it increased stress on another fault, and then another in a cascading chain that ended in over a metric ton of stone falling from the sky.

For giving her up to me, she crushed and buried a whole era of villains and heroes.

Of course I couldn’t allow that to happen seeing how I had already promised them victory. Fortunately, I had seen the effect her powers were having on her surrounding a full thirty seconds before the critical moment. As the rubble began to slip away from the bubble I had projected around myself and my new pink haired treasure I couldn’t help but laugh at what I saw.

The bubble I had placed around the villains had protected them completely from the debris but the heroes had not faired as well. I had issued no protection to them and it seemed that while Raven had managed to raise a magic shield in time it was only big enough to cover half of the vast assembly of heroes.
Jinx, it seemed, had inadvertently fulfilled my promise of victory to the villains.

“Well, I think we are done here. You should be more then capable of defeating the Titans and their allies now.” I said to the stunned Lex before looking down at Jinx, “Now, inter-dimensional travel is quite difficult but if you will take my hand I can offer you a less difficult trip.”

It seemed she was still a little stunned that her attempt to kill everyone had failed because all I could read from her body language was surprise and confusion. I gave her a moment to decide if she was going to be pragmatic or stubborn.

Will Jinx take his hand or will she be stubborn?
