Chapter 3
by Damiel
What does she do next?
There aren't enough supplies for her trip, find more.
Tovi evaluates her current sack of vitals and tools. Bound up in the stitched up old burlap is an assortment of root vegetables, a small dull knife she uses to cut greens, two short segments of rope (10'), a corked bottle of water, a blanket, and a crude pine torch. Along with her walking stick, current outfit, and ribbon she is comes to the conclusion that she doesn't stand much of a chance if she can't find some more necessities. With that in mind, Tovi decides on the best way to procure these much needed items.
Her first option is to ask her family for help. Perhaps her siblings would take pity on her and help smuggle some extra food. They never liked her betrothed and Tovi had always been generous with them. Her second option was to take what she needed. She didn't like this option and as such didn't give it much thought. If she needed to take something, she would do it as she left. Her third option was to ask one of the other families... but no, what could she even say?
"Oh, hey. I don't really like this arrangement you came up with. Give me stuff so I can leave"?
She mulls over the options all day. Maybe she could convince the other families to help. Do some extra work on the side for them. Help them haul water from the well, trim crops, and pull weeds. She couldn't skip out on her own workload... but she is one of the best workers in the house, she convinces herself, so maybe it could work.
Which method does she try first?
