Chapter 3
by superman07
Well...do you have time to catch up?
There's time to spare.
"Of course! I've got time."
Your reply doesn't take too long to come, after all it's practically a no brainer. Catching up with a beautiful Swimsuit model, who in their right mind would pass that up? Besides she looked practically ecstatic when you agree.
"Great! Come on, I'll have room service send up some breakfast so you don't have to miss your meal."
You start to tell her that it's not necessary but she's already heading for the elevator and motioning for you to follow. It's only a couple floors before you arrive at hers and she slides her key card into the door. For a moment you wonder who else is on the floor but the thought is interrupted by Nina pulling you in. Ten minutes later you find yourself sitting across from the model, a half finished plate of pancakes in front of you ( honestly the fastest room service you've ever experienced ) and Nina sitting across from you cross legged.
"I couldn't believe they didn't book you on location with us last year" she said continuing the topic of conversation the two of you had been having.
"Yeahhhh. No one officially knows what happened that year but I think some people vaguely caught wind" you started explaining your theory. "There's no solid evidence but I think sending me with the crew to the worst possible location was a way of dealing with it." Just talking about it gave you flashbacks to that shit hole.
"But your back now so I guess they think you've learned from whatever they think you did."
"Seems that way."
There was a pause as you both looked at each other, a tension developing between the two of you. Nina broke contact first, looking down at her food. "You know I still don't think I believe what I saw that night. I mean I was just stopping by to say hello to Brooklyn."
"I know, I still feel kind of bad about that one. You were dragged into it when you didn't need to be." You didn't feel true remorse but Nina had definitely been brought into the fold unknowingly. In the end you'd say it worked out well for everyone.
"Don't be ridiculous" a smile tugged at the edge of her lips as she looked back up at you. "It wasn't all that bad."
You held her gaze for a moment, trying to interpret her words. You could try to start off where you left off or maybe it was best to leave the past in the past and start off on a new course.
Pick up where you left off or leave?
