Their first day

A week after being sentenced, the two girls were expected to report to Honeywood State Penitentiary for Women at 8 a.m. Until then, they were to stay in their own separate houses and not to have any contact with one another until they reported.

The day came, and it was a beautiful sunny day, ruined for the girls by their obligations to head to prison for at least the next year of their lives.
