The ship's armory

Serris decided to check out the rest of her ship to make sure whoever had highjacked her wasn't still aboard. She really didn't expect to find anyone ready to spring an ambush on her, but she wanted to err on the side of caution. Her ship, after all, was a research vessel, and it wasn't heavily armed. Sure it had shielding and two pulse cannons, but her ship was built for speed and not for battle for the most part. The ship's armory consisted of two pulse pistols, one pulse rifle, and about a dozen stun rods that were kept at the ready in their own special charger bases in a room no bigger than a janitor's closet. It was to this janitor's closet, or armory if you prefer to call it that, Serris decided to go first. Sure, she was trained in martial arts, but it had been a long time since she used it, and she knew she'd be rusty, especially just having been awakened.

As she walked through the corridor, Serris mulled over what information she had from the ship's data banks. The ship never activated its self defense mechanisms from what she saw in the logs. This could mean one of three things: The ship recognized the intruder, or intruders, as friendly, the system was defective, or whoever took her ship knew how to disable them before they boarded.

Finally Serris arrived at the door of the ship's broom closet armory. Everything about the ship had looked and felt normal up until that point. Just before she activated the touch pad to open the door, she heard a noise from inside. She drew back her hand, and stood there listening in silence. She waited for what seemed like hours, but all she could hear was the usual hum of the ship's operations. As a matter of caution, she stepped off to the side of the door, and slowly guided her hand once again up to the door's touch pad. Her hand hovered over the pad as she strained her ears one final time before acting. She was starting to have second thoughts about opening that door.
