The ruined mall's food court

You and Ritter are standing just outside the maintenance hall in the trashed food court of the mall. Something or someone has shattered most of the glass in the skylight above. The gray, overcast sky is visible and the wind whistles through the glassless frames.

The fast food restaurants in the food court have been well-looted. Your group hit them first, but it looks as if they've seen other groups. Someone has sprayed vulgar graffiti on the walls and strewn garbage across the floor. The stinking corpse of a man is propped in one of the chairs, rotting blood covers it shirt and most of the skin has putrefied to a gray-green. Flies swarm around it.

"Nice," Ritter chuckles, admiring the corpse's slashed throat.

"Keep your eyes open," you say, drawing your gun from its holster.

The mall's exit is to the south. To the east are clothing stores and electronics stores. To the west is the mall's big department store. A J.C. Penny. The dead escalators lead up to the sporting goods store, a few small food outlets, a video arcade, and a movie theater.

"What now?" Ritter asks, hooking his thumbs into the belt loops of his ragged bluejeans.
