The power of a genie, of course.

With all that magic, you could easily wish yourself home. Or maybe just forget home and stay here where you'll have the power of a god!

“I'll take your power,” you tell her.

“I knew you would.” She blinks and your chains disappear. “It's been a fun ride, but it's time for a change. I'm sure you'll enjoy being a genie just as much as I did.“

You stand up and she blinks again. A strange tingling sensation flows over your body. Clothes form around you, though not much clothes. Just black shoes and leather pants, a white collar with a bow tie and white cuffs, though without being attached to a shirt. You're dressed like a Chippendales dancer. It's not just your clothes, your body is changing, becoming muscular enough for you to be one of those dancers.

“Ooh, nice,” says Jeannie as her clothes change into a form fitting, black, suit dress. “I hope you like it, because you're stuck in those clothes forever, no matter how much fashions change.”

You start to respond, but then you feel something. A warmth inside of you. A power, building and building. It's true! You have all the power of a genie and you can do anything you want with it!

Instinctively understanding how to control it, you blink. You and Jeannie are back in the wasteland again, but this time you're the one who is a thousand feet tall! It's time to show her what a bad idea it is to humiliate someone and then give him infinite power with nothing but a promise that he'll obey! You bend down, ready wipe the smug grin off her face.

A bell rings. Like a church bell, only louder, infinitely louder, as if coming from inside your head. You grip your head, trying to keep it from exploding from the pain. Finally the ringing subsides.

“Genie,” says the now mortal Jeannie, “take us home.”

“Yes, Mistress,” you say without thinking. You blink again and transport the two of you back to her increasingly familiar living room.

She crosses her arms and laughs. “Did you really think I'd just give you that power if you promised to behave? The curse of the genie is that you can only exert your own will for one day every thousand years. The rest of the time you're a **** to someone else's will, **** to serve. Major Nelson was smart enough to ask if there were any strings attached when I offered to switch places with him. Since the power can only be given willingly, I had to tell him and he wisely chose a day of my vengeance over an eternity of servitude. You weren't so smart.

“Now hit yourself.”

“Yes Mistress!” you say, compelled to follow her commands. You punch yourself in the face as hard as you can.

Jeannie smiles radiantly. “This is so exciting! I'm going to love being the one in control! And you're going to love it too! Well, maybe you'll hate it, but the curse will compel you to act like you love it, just like I had to, so it doesn't matter how you feel. Now, let's get started on your first task.”
