The pharmacy

"Let's hit the pharmacy," you say.

You and Ritter sling your rifles over your shoulders and push shopping carts towards the pharmacy. It's almost pitch black inside the store, but the aisles are clear of debris and you are able to find flashlights and batteries in the hardware section right before the first aid supplies. The beams of your lights sweep back and forth and Ritter begins dumping bandages and over the counter **** into the carts. Tylenol and aspirin and antibiotic ointments and a hundred other useful supplies.

The next aisle over are the baby supplies. Not room to waste on diapers, but you get large cans of formula and medical supplies for Dorothy's baby. Jars of baby food come next. Enough to last months. You return to the front of the store and place the cart near the entrance. Ritter follows close behind.

"It's sort of fun," he laughs.

"Yeah," you agree, "but stay wary. There may be crazies, survivors, or even wild animals in here. Hell, there could be mutants. We don't know what this disease has done to the world."

"Mutants," Ritter chuckles and adjusts the strap of his rifle.

You return to the pharmacy and are about to kick through the locked door into the prescription area when you notice the door is already open. It appears as if it has been ****. You push it open with the barrel of your rifle and motion for Ritter to pay attention.

Droplets of blood on the floor catch the beam of your flashlight. You lean back out and shine your light down the aisle and see that the spatters of blood come from the back of the store. You and Ritter leave the carts at the pharmacy door and move inside quietly and with your guns ready.

You sweep the aisles of prescription boxes and follow the trail of blood deeper and deeper, towards a small back office door. The door is closed and looked, but you can see a bloody palm print on it. Someone has been in there. You try the knob carefully, but the door is locked.

"I'll go in first," you say to Ritter. "Shoot the lock and kick it in."

You position yourselves on either side of the door. Ritter looks to you for a signal. You nod and he fires a single ear-shattering blast from his AK-47 into the door's lock and then gives the door a powerful kick. He swings back out of the way and you shoulder through the door...
