Chapter 28 by Kineticat Kineticat

What's next?

The next group of job offers

You decide that going back to sleep was not happening. You just don't trust yourself not to have another nightmare and that one was enough. You grab the black case out of your gym bag and connect the USB device to your laptop. You sign in to the site and check your inbox. You see one from HR and one from Kuhn. You check your agent's message first and see he's asking you to call him as soon as possible when you wake. Weird that he didn't text you this time but why not? You grab your phone and dial his number. It's really early but he asked for it. You hear a gruff, tired sounding male voice answer the phone. He sounds like he's had better days.

"Kuhn."

"Hey, agent man! You sound like you've done six rounds with King Kong."

"Yeah, I had a party to go to last night and I probably drank a bit too much," he yawns.

"Cool. I've been there. What did you need the ring-a-ling for?"

"We have a couple of jobs to discuss but one is a rush job and they're offering a sizable bonus for it."

"More money? I'm all ears!"

You hear a low pitched growl before he continues.

"Can you drop your voice down a tad? My headache is bad enough as is."

You cover the mic as you giggle, then you compose yourself and speak softly.

"Sorry. If it makes you feel better, my night wasn't any fun either."

"It's OK. Have you ever heard of Catherine Creek State Park?"

"Yep. it isn't too far by car but I think it's closed for the winter."

"The video guys have a permit to film there today and tomorrow and it cost them quite a pretty penny. Unfortunately, Marilyn canceled on them, and they're in quite a bind. They booked her at $1,000 for an overnight filming session. The crew is already in route and the whole thing is costing high 5 figures in total. You show as the only model within a thousand miles not on contract, they weren't happy with that but they are ****."

You laugh and hear him groan on the other end of the line, then lower your voice again.

"Sorry."

"It's OK."

"Why aren't they happy with me?"

"Two reasons. One they know I'm going to milk them dry over this and two they hate your base contract. The script has a lot of anal."

"Poor babies but they are offering anyway?"

"Yep. The money is spent and they want to get something out of this."

"OK. What else is there?"

"Two other jobs are open for you. One is a yachtsman in Massachusetts. He's offering $2,000 for a round trip sail between Boston and NYC this weekend."

"That sounds a bit risky to me."

"He's done this with girls before, no complaints filed."

"The last one?" you ask sipping your juice.

"This one is in Seattle. There's some business meeting Thursday and Friday. You'll be in Thursday morning and out Saturday morning. A client is looking to have a pretty girl on his arm pretending to be his fiance. Probably a couple of dinners or bar hopping with a few colleagues, then you keep him busy at night. It pays a total of $2,500."

"So he shows me off to his buddies and we sleep together two nights?"

"Yep. That's the long and short of it."

"When do you need to have an answer?"

"If you take the first job, I absolutely have to have an agreement with them by noon. The others can wait until probably around six."

"I'm not going to get in trouble if I say no to all of them am I?"

"Nope. You just finished a contract. The bosses won't start getting antsy for at least a few weeks with no work."

"Ok. I'll call you back in an hour with an answer on the first one. Talk at ya then?"

"Yep. Walker out."

You hang the phone up and put it on the coffee table. Then strip out of your nightshirt, grab some yoga pants and a t-shirt on your way into the bathroom. You turn the shower on and hop in. You do some of your best thinking there.

You could tell him no on all counts and try to get your life back on track. That first one will make you miss class because you need to rent a car and drive out there, you'll also need to make good with Kat to cover the shift tonight. The boat is a weird one. It's good money but being trapped on a boat all weekend feels risky even if Walker thinks it's boring. Seattle is a pure escort gig. Make a few guys drool by hanging on some loser's arm and bang all night. That seems the easiest of the three.

You tilt your head back, soak your hair and work the shampoo in. Still have to make a choice though. Decisions, decisions. . .

Filming? Yachting? Partying in Seattle? Or take the week off?
