The next day

The rest of the night passes quickly and soon you are in bed, with James's arms wrapped around you. You both fall asleep quickly. The sound of your alarm wakes you in the morning. You get up, take a shower, and get dressed. You decide to dress a little more conservatively today, a tight blouse and a knee length skirt. You kiss your husband goodbye and head off to work.

You arrive at the school and are greeted by Principal Danvers. He asks if he can speak with you for a moment. You follow him into his office and take a seat.

"Superintendent Nichols is coming down here tomorrow." Greg starts. "He's meeting with principals around the area to pick his successor for when he retires."

"Alright. What does this have to do with me?"

"Well he's going to have dinner with each of the candidates and he wants us to bring our families. The divorce just went through, though. I think it would look kind of pathetic to show up alone. I'm in a lot of debt since my ex-wife took half of my stuff. This position pays enough that I could start getting out of this debt and get back on my feet, so I need to make a good impression. Now, I know this is incredibly inappropriate and you have every right to slap me and storm out, but I have to ask because I'm ****. Will you come to the dinner and pretend... to be my wife?"

"You can't be serious, right? What would James think if I told him about this."

"It would just be a dinner, you could tell James that you were just going out to eat with a friend and you wouldn't even be lying. You don't have to do anything, you just have sit next to me and laugh at some my jokes and just tell him that I'm a decent guy. Worst case scenario, you have a boring night, but you get a free meal out of it."

"When you explain it that way, it doesn't sound so bad." You sigh. "I'll think about it."

Greg gives you a brief hug and thanks you for considering it. You tell him that you'll have your decision ready tomorrow morning. You leave his office and head to your classroom.
