Chapter 2

So where do you go?
The main building
While the entrance hall is the first thing most people see when they enter campus, students like you don't usually have a reason to hang around, preferring to gravitate towards the open fields or cafeteria located in other sectors. Still, something has to be said about the impressively maintained architecture, even if it is for the sake of visitors. Stained glass domed roofs, beautifully spiraling staircases, walls emblazoned with plaques and accolades... if not for the lecturers' disapproval about loitering, it's not a bad place to calm the mind, you admit.
At this time of the week, you know that most teachers won't actually be in this part of school, with only the most dedicated remaining behind to handle paperwork, or assigned elsewhere to oversee club activities. Your Literature teacher, Ms. Spinelli, is one of the few, either marking papers at her table or in the library planning the following week's curriculum. She's one of the shyest, most conservative teachers you've known, though more gentle than strict - and you've dreamed of the feel from her porcelain-smooth skin on more than one occasion.
Your thoughts briefly linger on this prospect as you walk up the staircase, passing by the nurse's office on your right. A sign on the door indicates that Ms. Becks, the school nurse, is in, and your mind conjures up the image of her. You haven't had much reason to visit the infirmary, but you remember that Ms. Becks is often frustrated - likely due to the injuries she has to frequently inspect. Still, you've heard from your lazier classmates that she's not opposed to letting them sleep in the beds sometimes.
Juggling these two possibilities you walk by the meeting rooms on the second level, when a clatter and gasp nearby startles you. Pausing, you notice that aside from ambient noise, there don't seem to be the sounds of conferencing or orating, suggesting that there aren't any meetings being held. The meeting rooms should be empty... or are they?
Where do you investigate?
