Andreas pulls his shirt over his head to wash himself at the trough in the farmyard. He also takes two wooden buckets for water for the animals and goes to the barn door. First, he has to lift the two crossbars from their holders that secured the door overnight. Then he enters the dim yard and goes directly to the stone water trough. With both hands, he scoops water onto his face and arms. As he bends over the trough a second time, he sees a shadow beside him, and a powerful club strike to the head knocks him to the ground. Immediately, three comrades pounce on him, tie him up, and gag him on the ground.
