The hard way

Ella spent the next 45 minutes lugging all the ex's shit down to the curb a fellow neighbor Trinity was just stepping out the lift as Ella approached it, holding the door open Trinity a 20 something girl with a punky fashion sense and attitude. with blue highlights in her hair and way too many piercings gave Ella a crooked smile.
"Throwing out the trash?" she asked raising an amused eyebrow.
"No, throwing the trashes trash out, the trash who owns this trash is already in the... trash?" replied Ella as she maneuvered the boxes onto the lift.
"Give me a holla on the way back up girl ill help you out" Trinity called back over her shoulder with a grin as the doors started to close.
With Trinity's sense of humor and helping hands work proceeded much quicker, Ella had only spoken to Trinity a couple of times in passing in the corridor and another time when they were petition signing to get a noisy tenant up the hall moved out.
Ella found out Trinity works at an art gallery down town and scored an invite to come visit the opening of the next exhibition, "free cheap wine and snacks" was Trinity's selling point on that one.

Just as they were putting the last box on the curb a thrumming roar of a muscle car turning into the street and revving its engine hard as it did so heralded the appearance of the asshole. The black car screeched to a halt next to the boxes, furniture and bags and out stepped Derek the apparently very angry ex boyfriend.

"Ella what the fuck I can't carry all this shit in my car?"
"well if you picked it up when you said you would it wouldn't all be on the street would it?"
"but i..."

A wolf whistle and small cheer of "you go girl" comes in the direction of Trinity who has been leaning in the apartment entrance watching the street theater.

Trinity joined Ella in the lift as they returned to Ella's floor...
