Chapter 15 by daciasdesire daciasdesire

To the after-party.

The girls are on the scene.

Stepping into the Billabong and Toohey’s after-party, Robyn was relieved to see they weren’t under dressed at all. Girl’s walked around freely in swimsuits everywhere as if they just walked in off the sand. The rich gold and bronze colour of their outfit helping them stand out in the bikini-clad crowd.

Robyn hoped she would be able to spot Larry before they ran into Barry. She wanted to be true to her word and not leave Emma alone with him tonight. Luck had it that she was able to spot her potential new beau first. Larry and Barry were behind the bar going over the presentation of their companies drink’s in big clear Perspex tubs full of bottles and ice. Robyn didn’t want to look at some many bottles so soon!

“Just give me a minute to talk to Larry first,” Robyn said. Emma happy to make a quick trip around the room first.

Moving close to the bar, Robyn was able to get Larry’s attention and wave him over to him.

“Hey you made it!” Larry said giving Robyn a hug. Very pleased to see her.

“Wouldn’t miss it,” Robyn told Larry as she hugged him back. “Just one quick thing,” she said drawing Larry away from the bar to talk privately away from Barry.

“What is it Robyn,” he asked when Robyn had taken him far enough away.

“Nothing bad just Emma wasn’t really… vibin’ with Barry before, that’s all,” Robyn said hoping Larry would understand.

“Oh! No problem at all. I’ll sort it out, don’t worry about it. I’ll come find you when I’m done setting up and we can hang out some more if you’d like that,” Larry said. Robyn was so glad he understood.

“I would,” Robyn said, reaching out to give Larry’s palm an affectionate squeeze before he headed off.

With Larry busy for now, Robyn made her way straight back to Emma’s side. She found her surrounded by three male waiters in their mid-teens. The reason for the grouping two-fold, firstly the three young boys couldn’t take their eyes off the front of Emma’s gathered cleavage in her bronze bikini and secondly, Emma was busily devouring her way through the three trays of hors d’oeuvres they held. Robyn was about to shoo the horny teens away when her mouth began to instantly start water at the aroma of the food. Robyn acutely aware she hadn’t eaten anything in hours, since before the two competitions.

Robyn helped herself to an arancini ball from the closest tray and stuffed it into her mouth like she hadn’t eaten in weeks.

“You’ve got to try these,” Emma mumbled through a mouthful of smoked salmon and cream cheese toasts, indicating a half-empty tray of crab cakes.

The three boys were happy to remain for the arrival of another attractive female in a bikini.

“Excuse me, Miss Robyn Rothchild?” A woman in her mid-twenties tapped Robyn on her shoulder.

“Yessh?” Robyn turned to answer in surprise, her mouth as full of the crab cakes as Emma’s had been before. Embarrassed at being caught with the mouthful, Robyn held her hand in front of her face so the women wouldn’t see her struggling to try and swallow her food.

“Sorry I caught you at a bad time. I’m Emily Johnstone. I’m a writer for Surfer Magazine. I was hoping to speak to you after you won the amateur competition but you’d left by the time I was finished covering the professionals. Larry told me you might make an appearance here tonight.”

Emily was dressed conservatively in a pair of tight-fitting black pants and a white blouse underneath a matching black jacket. She had her long blonde hair tied up in a ponytail, a pair of black-rimmed glasses tucked into the hair atop her head.

“It’s fine. Don’t worry about it,” Robyn said having cleared her mouth and able to talk properly again.

“Did you have time for a quick interview? You caused a bit of stir winning the competition dressed how you did. I’d love to find out the reason,” Emily asked.

“Sure I’d love to,” Robyn told her, “I’d actually just won the bikini competition, well co-won with my best friend Emma, Emma Hutchinson,” Robyn repeated Emma’s name adding the last name as the reporter took out a note pad and pencil as well as a small tape recorder.

“Fascinating,” Emily commented jotting down Emma’s name as Robyn reached for friend behind her, pulling her into the conversation.

“Alright, you can go,” Emma told the waiters as she was pulled away, “wait, you! Bring me back a tray of those bacon-wrapped scallops.” A young boy scurrying away to comply with her request.

Emily repeated her introduction for Emma’s benefit and they made their way to a quiet corner of the party. Emily turned on the micro-cassette and began the interview.

What does the reporter want to know?
