The first night

It was only later that I discovered what she was, and what I had become.

She had read my mind as she turned me, and discovered where I lived. Manipulating the undead flesh on her back until it resembled a pair of large leathery wings, she ascended into the air, carrying my lifeless body through the city during the hours between dawn and day. Entering through an upstairs window, she’d set me down in my own bed, drawn the curtains and waited for me to turn.
