Chapter 3 by mostlyclothed

What do I want to eat?

The choice is made for me.

I pushed open the double doors and entered the air conditioning of the theater. It wasn't much, a small lobby with red carpet and some upcoming movie posters on the wall. To the right were the theaters and across from the entrance was the concession stand. Standing up against the wall to the left was David and Roger.

"Hey man!" David greeted me. He was dressed for work at an Italian place, a black polo and jeans.

"Hey, how was work?" I asked.

"Meh, to many loud families at lunch, but the tips were nice." I chuckled and nodded a greeting towards Roger who wore a bright pink pair of pants and a white top. Classic Roger.

"Hey! You ready for this?" He asked.

"Ready as ever. As long as they don't kill of Sarge i'm happy."

"Oh you know they will. It was in the comics!"

"Yeah, but neither was William and Victoria's relationship and yet here we are." He scowled.

"Still disagree with that one, but what ever." David and I laughed. I glanced down at my phone and noticed we only had a few minuets until the show started.

"Where's Parker, the show starts in a couple minutes?"

"He said he would be a few minutes late. He says go in without him and he'll find us. Apparently parking is bad." Roger said, checking his phone.

"Tell me about it." I grumbled. David and Roger chuckled. "I'm going to get a snack or something. I'm starving, you guys want anything?"

"Nah, I'm good. I got food from work, so I'm still stuffed. I'll see you in there." David turned and walked towards the theater. I turned to Roger.

"I had a snack before I left."

"Sounds good. I'll be right there." Roger nodded and walked off to follow David.

I turned towards the concessions stand and sighed. A few people stood in line waiting for the single person working the concessions, another issue with a small theater. Knowing I would probably miss just a trailer or two, I stepped in line and began to debate what I wanted. I looked at the menu and winced, I always forgot how much popcorn cost at this place. I continued to scan the menu and winced again; nothing was under 500 calories.

Damn, there goes my diet again.

My weight was another thing I was trying to change. I had spent most of my life overweight. It had never be crazy bad, maybe 30-40 pounds heavier than I should have been, but it was something I was not proud of. I had been trying to lose weight for years after some rude comments directed my way by some girls at school, but I kept falling off. Situations like this didn't help. I had trouble planning meals and snacks so I didn't have to buy food when I was out and about, but here I was, starving with nothing but popcorn, candy and hot dogs as to sustain me.

I looked down at my large stomach and man boobs with distaste. I knew that if I didn't eat now, I would over eat after the movie. I sighed and promised myself I would work out tomorrow. I looked back at the menu for a moment decided I would just go for a small popcorn, the cheapest and the least caloric thing on the menu.

One person was served and wandered off. I shuffled forward. A few minutes later, another one got their massive tub of popcorn and wandered off. I looked down at my phone. I was three minutes late already for the movie. Just one more person before me, an elderly man.

After the longest couple of moments of my life, the man turned around and walked off with a tub of popcorn. It was finally my turn and I stepped up to the register to watch the employee turn off the light of the popcorn machine. He turned around and gave me an apologetic look.

"Sorry man, the machine broke and we served the last of the popcorn." I deflated. Stupid people with their tubs of popcorn.

"Really?" I sighed, more to myself than to him.

"Yeah man, sorry. Do you want something else?"

Frantically, I looked around the menu to find the item with the next lowest number of calories.

"Uhh, I'll have just a plain hot dog with some ketchup."

"Sure thing, man. Anything to drink?" I nodded.

"Yeah, I'll take a bottle of water."

"Cool." He turned around and started on my hot dog. After a moment, he turned around and set the hot dog on the counter before grabbing a water from the fridge. He placed it on the counter and tapped on the register for a second.

"Nine forty eight." He said. I handed him my card and he swiped it.

"Thanks! Enjoy your movie." He handed me my card back and slid the hot dog and water bottle towards me.

"Thanks!" I grabbed my things and turned around. As I did so I saw the girl from the parking lot walking towards the theater. I couldn't stop my self from watching as she disappeared around a corner. Then I ran directly into someone.

Who is it?
