Chapter 5 by kiahoga kiahoga

Where to now.

The Visitors Center

Cursing under your, at not knowing the area very well you keep studying the sign. As tired as you are walking four miles back into the trees would take too much out of you. You remember your father telling you that early morning was the best time for fishing. So that means there is a good possibility that they’ll be vehicles down there for some early morning fisherman.

“Hmm…. Get some rest, and maybe ambush an unsuspecting fisherman.” You say to yourself, feet already moving.

You start walking down the dirt road not as much in a hurry as you were and watch as the lake come into view the moonlight glittering on the surface of the water. Looking across the surface of the lake, you see light in the distance indicating that there might be access to the recreation area on the other side. As you get closer to the lake the wind picks up and the temperature starts to drop. It takes you a couple hours to cover the three miles to the visitor’s center, shivering now; you walk the main entrance finding the doors locked.

The Visitor’s center is made of three buildings the first and biggest is the center itself. You find the main doors and an emergency exit; both locked and are unable to see into the darkened building through the windows. The second in a garage with a large rolling metal door, on the side of the building you find a white door secured with a padlock. The last building and smallest a concessions stand, your stomach growl letting you know that it’s hungry.

Looking around you figure behind the garage you could be out of the breeze, where you could just wait or sleep. Thinking you could also try to break into the concession stand for a midnight meal. Just maybe you think, looking out across the lake at the lights in the distance, but after a bit you can’t tell how far they could be.

What do you decide
