The Shelter

As you walk aimlessly, you take out the paper that the doctor had given you, detailing the life of a man living with the Daniels Injection. You're surprised at what you learn, seeing as, compared to the women who lived before you, you have a larger chance of having multiples, such as twins and triplets. You figure that they did that one purpose, to help the population recover quicker and to make sure even people who only got pregnant once had a chance of having more children. Then you see a list of resources and one is a shelter that specifically handles those without homes after the injection took place. Despite the fact that you have no idea where it is, you decide to go look for it since you don't have another choice.

You manage to find the building as night falls and the man who is at the door immediately knows why you're here. He calls back inside, telling them that they need to get another bed ready for the night and a plate of food so you don't go hungry. You blush and thank him profusely, though he waves you off and tells you that he wished that this place had been around when he got his injection.

He, you later learn that his name is Kyle, waves you inside and you're surprised how few people are here. From what you had seen on television, you'd have expected this place to be overfilled with homeless men. Well, boys since a majority seem to be not much older than you. Another man comes towards you and introduces himself as Cian, the owner of the building and the head honcho of the shelter. He questions you briefly and you cry a little as you tell him everything that has happened in less than twelve hours, but he is sympathetic and takes you to bed where he hands you a sandwich and a juice bottle, apologizing for not having more. You tell him that this was more than you were expecting and it's not far from the truth, having thought that you would be given a blanket and told to sleep on the floor and having to wait for the next morning to eat. Cian smiles at you and tells you to relax tonight and tomorrow he'll help you figure out what to do next. You nod and curl up on the bed, quickly falling asleep.
