The Party

We decided to not think about the job for now and pushed it to the back of our minds. We were too busy with the party coming up.

Sarah's party was held in her backyard. She invited my entire family over and some of her friends. Some of them brought presents but I didn't bring any.

"Millionaire boy. Where is my present?" Sarah jokingly asked. She said the millionaire part softly so no one could hear us.

"Didn't I give you one already?" I asked as I rubbed Sarah's stomach. She gave me a knowing smile.

"You're so bad." she purred. She pulled me in for a quick kiss.

After a few hours of laying around, eating, and talking, the party started to wind down. People started getting anxious and wanted to go back home. Before they left, Sarah gathered everyone around the living room. Sarah has prepared a little present for our parents. She then went to her room.

Sarah actually went out to buy some baby clothes a few days ago. She bought one that said, "Grandparents' Favorite Child" in big colorful letters. Sarah wrapped it up and hid it in her room.

Sarah descended from the stairs and everyone turned towards her. I stood at the back of the room so I wouldn't attract attention to myself. Sarah placed the wrapped box in front of her mom with a big grin.

Sarah's mom carefully opened the present with my parents sitting next to her. She opened the box and took out the shirt.

"Grandparents' Favorite Child" she read out loud. It took her a few seconds for the phrase to register and she jumped up. She looked at Sarah and asked, "Are you serious?" Sarah nodded and she let out a scream of joy. Everyone in the room applauded at the news.

Sarah's dad remained in his seat with a happy smile on his face. My mom jumped up and asked, "Who is the father?" Her eyes were trained on me. Sarah walked over to me and gave me a big wet kiss.

Both our moms screamed in joy and jumped around. My dad gave me a thumbs up. I returned it and smiled. He never was a really emotional guy so a thumbs up is good enough.

Casey came over to me with a goofy smile. It looks like she was about to burst from hearing a funny joke. I could feel her holding back from laughing. She stood on her toes and put her lip near my ears.

"Your pull out game is weak." she whispered. She then collapsed on the floor, laughing. Sarah heard the sentence and was chuckling at it. I just let out a laugh and shook my head at the comment.
